What
is the selection criteria to be Spotlighted on one of your Shows?
1. Will your Story
be of interest to our viewers
and add to the syndication and licensing value of our TV series and video library?
2.
Does your organization provide successful and innovative solutions to needs or
demands in your industry?
3. Does your storyline tie in well with
the other scheduled segments and your availability / timing (desired start,
shooting and on-air dates) fit our production and broadcast schedule?
4.
Do you intend to license
the Spotlight for your own commercial use
and targeted distribution?
Award-winning broadcast journalists,
news anchors, producers,
directors, editors and PR execs. The committee is chaired by
Jeffery Goddard, a long-time member of the Production Executives Committee
for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences; NATPE (National Association
of Television Program Executives); a frequent judge for the Emmy Awards and owner
of TVA Productions.
We will work with you to choose locations (worldwide) that best
serve the story. Our news anchors do Spotlight
intros and wraparounds from one of the top news
sets in Hollywood, just minutes from TVA's main studio next to CBS Studios.
Interviews with industry analysts
and commentators are taped in-studio or on locations of their choosing.
Usually within one to two weeks after script is finalized---on
a date that is acceptable to you. The average turnaround time from script to screen,
dubs to distribution is six weeks.
Spotlights are presented commercial-free
in a highly credible TV newsmagazine format similar to "Dateline" or
"20/20" by Emmy and Golden Mike-winning news anchors,
accredited news journalists and renowned experts.
In
a recent Roper Survey, when Americans were asked what they thought is the
most credible source for news --- television, radio, newspapers, internet, etc.,
the answer, by a two-to-one margin, was television.

on your locations worldwide and on our multi-million dollar news
set in Hollywood. We cover all travel and location expenses for our news crews.
Can
my company be Spotlighted without licensing it for my own commercial use and
targeted distribution options?
Since total story submissions always exceed Spotlight
slots available, newsworthy candidates who are willing to share a partial vested
interest in the outcome as Licensees of corporate use items
that directly benefit them are given priority.
Overall, Spotlight
Licensees are far more responsive and cooperative in helping us produce the best,
most compelling Spotlight possible. They help promote the Show since they have
a vested interest in reaching a larger percentage of their target audience. Licensing
revenue also enables the Show to be aired commercial-free for higher ratings
and lower channel switching.
Can
you guarantee results, cite case studies with ROI and references?
Everything we offer and do is guaranteed. Our Emmy &
Golden Mike winning news team will develop the plan to your approval, implement
it, and measure the results. You will receive advance media schedules, detailed
broadcast affidavits, Arbitron reports (showing station, city, date
and time, cumulative audience, circulation, and demographics) and actual clippings
from newspapers and magazines.Clip entry and placement numbers are shown in real-time
via 24/7 online tracking.
EVERY Licensee / client to date
is listed on our Results
and Spotlights pages
with case studies, unsolicited letters; contact names; quotes; links to their
sites; broadcast affidavits;
awards
won; pictures of our studio;
VOD of recently televised episodes;

What
happens after we mutually agree to move forward?
We will:
1. Send you an Agreement and Production Schedule for
your approval.
2. Refine story angles based on the raw information
you supply and work up a script for your approval. See Concept
Development Survey
3. Confirm shooting locations and logistics
for news crew.
4. Shoot and edit your Spotlight---both
the broadcast version and expanded corporate video version. Our Emmy-winning news
anchors will do your intros
/ wraparounds from one of the top news
sets in Hollywood.
5. Deliver VHS and CD-Rom copies; tradeshow
loop tapes, etc. to you.
6. Help set up internet streaming of your
Spotlight from your website.
7.
Distribute to TV Stations and (if you are a Level II
or III Licensee)---to
cruise lines, airlines and internet business portals.
8. Actively
promote your Spotlight via press releases,
Media
Alerts to 1100
TV newsrooms and 10,900 reporters offering complete transcript and B-roll
footage; phone pitching, newsletters, internet promos, mass opt-in emailing, etc.
9.
Monitor Results. You will be provided with broadcast affidavits, detailed reports
(Arbitron-based for radio) and immediate forwarding of all inquiries from
the Media Alert distribution.
10. Develop additional distribution
and syndication opportunities that will increase visibility of your story.
1. As with other news organizations, featured companies
pay only to license the Spotlight for their
own corporate use. Most featured organizations opt for a Media
Licensing Package since they receive for pennies on the dollar:
video reprints, access to footage and edited masters, additional airings in cities
they choose; webcasting & internet streaming, Video News Release (VNR) distribution,
corporate video version, CDs, trade show loop tapes, etc.
2.
Companies routinely spend thousands on PR (Video News Releases, Satellite Media
Tours, Electronic Press kits, Corporate Videos, etc.) with no guarantee their
message will be seen by anyone. Expensive satellite uplink distribution is done
to reach swamped newsrooms across the country in the hopes that a sufficient
number of stations will carry the story.
3. Traditional
PR and publicity is often hit and miss because you have no control over what angle
the media will take; when, where and how often your story will air and how much
of the story actually ends up being seen by anyone.
4.
No TV news organization has the resources in labor, time or funds to cover every
worthy story. With CNN and other major news media laying off hundreds
of staffers, over 90% of TV newsrooms now rely on video news releases
(VNRs), electronic press kits (EPKs) and B-roll footage provided by outside sources
as a regular part of their newscasts. (Source: Medialink
Study, February 2002)
Insight
vs. Soundbite
Licensees are guaranteed
positive, credible, IN-DEPTH TV news placement on major broadcast, cable &
satellite networks, as well as cruise ships and airlines. We can tell you when,
where and how often your Story will be seen. Advance media schedules and broadcast
affidavits are provided weekly. Sampling of Recent
Media Placements
A study
by the Columbia University School of Journalism concluded that"well-placed
news articles are FOUR TIMES more believable than traditional advertising."
In
a recent Roper Survey, when Americans were asked what they thought is the
most credible source for news - television, radio, newspapers, internet, etc.,
the answer, by a two-to-one margin, was television.
Solution
to Commercial Zapping via Digital Black Boxes:
From EMMY
magazine, April 2002 issue, page 46: "Thanks to personal video recorders
like TiVo and Replay TV, people are skipping more commercials each year. Forrester
Research, which studies the interactive TV industry, has predicted that viewers
will watch 50 percent fewer commercials by 2005. Driven by fears of falling revenues,
the networks have been exploring new ways to deliver advertising messages, including
putting them in shows. It may take a few years, but some analysts believe that
program-related sales could eventually generate more revenue than traditional
advertising ever did."

We're not talking about a quickie 12-second sound bite from talking
heads that airs only once or twice--but an in-depth, 5-30 minute Spotlight
that gives viewers a much more memorable impression --enhanced by multiple targeted
airings primetime in cities you select.
And it probably looks just like the typical self-aggrandizing,
highly predictable industrial video that today's viewers are shunning worldwide.
After producing hundreds of corporate videos since
1987, we're finding that today's audiences are so visually sophisticated and cynical,
it requires a whole new approach (such as 3rd party media endorsements via
TV newsmagazines) to impress them. See Press*
for news articles which attest to this.
For less than what many companies
pay for just the production costs of an in-house industrial video --- our
Licensees have found that having an award-winning TV news team providing 3rd
party endorsements makes it a much more credible message.

carry a message with more persuasive power to the heart of John Q. Public
than the endorsement of the news media.” --Eric Severeid
What
if we're a Business to Business or narrow niche company?
Our Media Licensing Packages are designed for B2B, narrow-niche*
and B2C Licensees with both:
NARROWcasting benefits: Your Spotlight
will receive multiple primetime airings in targeted cities you select; video streaming
from your website and major internet portals; unlimited use of an expanded corporate
video version; a large supply of videotapes and CD-Roms, tradeshow loop tapes,
TV
by Mail (to ensure the Spotlight is seen by your target audience) --
and several other corporate usage rights, protections and benefits.
BROAD-cast
benefits: over 70 million guaranteed households, businesses and passengers
reached via broadcast networks, cable, satellite, internet, airlines, cruise ships,
etc. driving major traffic to websites, increasing sales and share price --- (often
to historical highs), with long-term image branding via an in-depth televised
news Spotlight --- ten times longer than a
TV spot; distribution to hundreds of other newsrooms via Media Alerts... etc.
*For example, during a medical convention in Chicago, TVA saturated the market for B2B Licensee,
"Applied Medical" (Episode
#83) by running the Spotlight on local cable channels and in hotels surrounding
the convention center (via closed-circuit cable) as well as on-board shuttle buses.
They featured the trade-show loop tape on a large screen TV at their exhibit and
handed out or mailed the large supply of video cassettes and CDs to their best
prospects. (Licensee was thrilled with the targeted response and has since given
us several new assignments).
What
if we only want our Spotlight to air locally?
Not
a problem. A Level
I Media Package will allow you to choose just the city or cities where you
wish your Spotlight to air.
“Nothing
can carry a message with more persuasive power to the heart of John Q. Public
than the endorsement of the news media.” --Eric

of media professionals from the journalism, public relations and marketing disciplines
to take this fact and develop it to the next logical level.

Shows are commercial-free, feature news programs anchored and reported by top
news professionals. Your Spotlight can be targeted at regional, national, or international
audiences with timing and frequency that you select to support new product rollouts,
corporate image promotions, or cause-related campaigns.
This
means that now you can be an active participant in telling an in-depth story about
your organization through the television news medium. Reach millions of households,
or selected cities, where and when you want, based on your marketing plan.
